Discord Draconequus would slither in after his morning tomfoolery. He had a good breakfast and after-lunch snugs with the egg, but it was nearly time for a certain princess of night to wake and raise the moon. Perhaps while she was still drowsy he could partake in that which is -- naughty. Manipulation that is. He appeared peering over the edge of her bed. Raising his paw he would make sure to return her precious dairy, his reading amusing but disrupted by a half-dead Azure. "
Lulu~" he cooed in a quiet whisper. "
Are you still asleep sweetie~?" He would try and creep over the sweet nothings that princesses dreamed about. Gently, patiently.
Princess Luna lay asleep, mostly on her stomach with her head settled on her pillow. It was becoming close to the time that she had to wake up, but she was too comfortable and warm. An ear flicked when the murmurings of somepony reached her, drawing her out of sleep better than being yelled at and shaken. "Mmm?" The princess grunted, shifting her head a little. Her sleepy mind tried to figure out who had spoken, and for a moment she pondered if it was Tia, but her sister didn't make a habit of waking her up for the moonrise. Luna tilted over onto her good side to see who it was, and spied a certain draconequus- after her eyes had a moment to focus. "Oh, Discord. Why do you wake me?"
Discord Draconequus grunted. It was too close to her hour of waking. So he was a little late to manipulate her dreams. Alas, a spirit could dream, couldn't he? "Wake you? No, no...shh. I came to join you." The sneaky snake slithered onto the bed's surface, facing her with a wide, Cheshire grin. "Now I am not culpable for the ease in which you are disrupted from your sleep, but I had merely meant to ask you where you put that relic from yestereve, I was curious about it. The little wooden bell." He reached a paw up to her mane to sooth her, shush her, lull her into a false sense of security. "I am deeply remiss for disturbing you~"
Princess Luna stretched out her forelegs and yawned, eyes clenching shut- when they opened, they met Discord's grinning face. "Relic?" She echoed, her brow furrowing. Oh, yes, the strange little bell with the spellwork marring its surface. She'd yet to actually look at it. "It is almost time for the moonrise, it is of little matter, but I do have it." Luna said, resting the side of her head back down on her pillow when Discord stroked her still, starry mane. "Why do you ask? Has the foal woken up?"
Discord Draconequus folded his ears back, mentally huffing at her lack of response, or at least limited response. He pulled his forearms to his chest, tucking them against himself as he floated off the bed's surface til he was just floating over the rousing princess. "Oh, yes, yes. I took him out, fed him. Bumped into Azure--" He held out his paw, presenting the softer limb in hopes she would be more lured, the left talon remaining tucked against his chest. "Let me see the object in question dear. Come now, you've not much time before you have to be up and at it." He gently coaxed. He was a patient spirit, but not very. He would rather ponies act of their own accord, through his spellwords, than actually force his hypnosis on them were it unnecessary. Spellwords were indeed a thing the spirit always spoke. His very language was a manipulating force based on the same visual cues on hypnosis. It was one of the reasons he was not affected by Fluttershy's stare, his own, natural snake-like hypnosis-- overpowering.
Princess Luna turned her head to watch him float and hold out his paw for it. "I do not have it on me." The princess answered simply, using her magic to pull her covers aside so that she could slide out of bed. Her sprained hoof seemed better today, and the limp slightly less. She gave herself a gentle shake and first went about grooming herself, letting her mind slowly come to alertness. "Azure? How is my scribe doing?" Luna asked, puzzling over what she'd done with the relic before she'd slept. Of course. "It is in my office, now that I recall. I will have to go get it. After the last time you and Bygone snuck into it and made such a mess, I had to ward it against any... unwanted visitors. Now, especially, that the tablet resides in there too. I do not want anypony getting hurt."
Discord Draconequus scoffed and looked away. Whoops. "I wasn't in a correct state of mind thank you." Yes he was, but without any reason to attend to one's inhibitions... "By the way, what was on that tablet? You should really be careful when piecing things like that together. They may be cursed." he wiggled his claws in the air before adopting a serious expression, looking down on her. He was, of course, worried. He was unsealed now. If Loam was around anything else from his past could now start to crop up. That frankly terrified him. He was a horrible creature, deserving of this broken, disgusting, chaotic form. "We meant no harm." He admitted. He just wanted to help by eliminating the worthless laws and instating better ones. "Come now." He motioned, shifting his body to follow her. He glanced back to her hoof, ears twitching. "You should really be more careful princess~ you are quite delicate~" He teased.
Princess Luna made an amused noise when she put her brush away- for her regalia, she only ever bothered with the neckpiece and tiara. She didn't want to bother with her shoes until her hoof had healed. "We alicorn are sturdier than you think. It was an accident." She brushed it off, making for the door to lead down to her office. "As for the tablet, as far as I could tell at first glance, it seemed to be a map. It and the little bell were put away to await my scrutiny once I had properly rested." Luna said on the way. Once they'd reached her office, she undid her spell before heading inside. "Now, why do you want it, or is the little foal aware that it is missing?"
Discord Draconequus mumbled a bit as she tired herself up. He levitated her brush when she set it down. "Really now? With those long legs of yours I could have mistaken you for a pinata~" He chuckled before tossing the brush and appearing in her reflection. "Does Tia know you're being reckless like this?" he smirked as she walked off, vanishing again. He would shift the gravity around her tiara so it would be placed atop his head, the spirit giggling. "Oh well you know, the usual: corruption, mass destruction of Equestira -- yes because the foal realized it was missing, honestly princess what sort of spirit of chaos do you take me for? I may ravage time and space as we know it, but I don't steal from foals~"
Princess Luna had snorted at Discord's comments and questions. She chose not to acknowledge his taking of her tiara and instead looked through a cabinet, pulling out the little wooden bell. The spellwork scrawled into its surface still intrigued her.. The princess moved over to sit at her desk, should Discord do nothing to stop her. "I hardly considered that, I trust you enough not to be so cruel." Luna replied, slightly teasing, though she had to consider that she technically stole it. But she had the intention to return it, once she got a chance to study it. "Interesting little thing for a foal to have."
Discord Draconequus he warped the two items: the tiara back to her head and the bell to his paws. He couldn't just take things without transferring them over. That usually led to instability and other bad things. "Oh no, perish the thought." He mused. Stealing from a foal! But from an adult was something else entirely. He chuckled and rolled on his back, the egg still in Luna's bed cozy in a pile of blankets. He hovered the object in his paw, claw pulling back, drawing the carvings from it. He laid out the carvings out. Old spell glyphs. "Can you read this Luna? Looks familiar, doesn't it?" Twisted glyphs that were easily legible, but their order made no sense, as they would additionally have mathemathic notations shoved between them.
Princess Luna probably should have seen that coming, but at least she had her tiara back. She fixed him with a flat, unamused look and leaned her elbows onto the desk's surface, crossing her forehooves under her chin. He might be able to help her, however. Her gaze ran over the glyphs he pulled off the bell's surface, but she couldn't quite make sense of them at all. "I do not believe I can. Familiar, yes, but very old." Luna said, "Can you tell me?"
Discord Draconequus chortled and threw out his forelimbs. "Why it's he basis for chaos magic my dear~!" He floated around the expanded lettered pointing to each collection. "This one tells you how to bend space, this instructs you on the spell words to cross it in one piece. Always make sure you have this instruction. Coming out on the other side in pieces is no fun, trust me. I had quite a time once looking for my head." He tittered before flattening the glyphs and placing them back on the bell. "This my dear is a warp bell." He tapped it, but it was soundless for there was no pell inside, but seconds later a massive, dark, vaccuuming portal appeared behind the princess, some papers getting tossed about toward the black hole. "Hooo my I haven't seem one of these in aaaaages." He spun around laughing.
Princess Luna's eyebrows went up at that, and she followed his pointing as he explained each cluster of glyphs. "Oh my." The princess said quietly- well, Discord would be the one to recognize and know chaos magic. "A warp bell? It is interesting that a foal should be wandering around with one. It makes me wonder-.." Luna was cut off when the portal opened up behind her, and it was all she could do to keep her chair from getting pulled into it too. "Would you mind closing the portal?" Luna asked the laughing being with a frown on her face. There went some of her documents... yet again.
Discord Draconequus feigned ignorance. "Oh my! Whoever could have known~" He glanced away, flicking his claw against the wooden bell, the black hole sealing up with a flash. He made the bell vanish into one of his pocket dimensions and hovered over the princess. "Ppbbft, oh I'm sure it wasn't anything important." He waved his paw dismissively. Lowering down so he hovered behind her the sneaky spirit got all up in her personal space. "Now I am curious about this little map. May I see it, oh I won't touch it~" He promised with a sly smirk.
Princess Luna didn't say anything until the portal behind her had closed and she could relax more comfortably in her chair. She grunted. "You did, did you not just explain to me that it was a warp bell?" She flatly stated and turned about when he disappeared, reappearing close behind her. "If I bring it out, you will not take it from me will you?" Luna asked him straight out, and slid out of her chair for the cabinet. She didn't reach into it just yet, awaiting the draconequus's response; though whether she could trust such an answer remained to be seen.
Discord Draconequus put his claws to his lips. "Oh, did I now? Silly me~ you forget things in your old age." He would appear on the ground holding a cane, wobbling a bit. The cane vanished as he floated up, crossing his forepaws across his chest. She had to be direct... At least with an over extended explanation he could get away with a few loopholes. "Oh fine. I won't take it from you, but at least take that silly little spell off it so I can hold it properly." He flashed out only to reappear and settle beside her on his haunches.
Princess Luna quirked a brow in disbelief; he'd told her only moments ago, it was hardly something you could forget so easily. She passed it off as one of his antics and turned back to the cabinet, drawing out the stone tablet. "It is not a spell I can take off, but something put there by the old alicorns themselves.. from what I understand of Agate's explanation." Luna moved over to her desk and laid it out on the surface, gently, and peered at the lines and writing. "You can still look, but be careful, I do not know what it does to non-alicorns."
Discord Draconequus squinted a bit at her before floating over to look at the tablet. "Old Alicorn?" But that would mean this thing was well beyond either of their time -- so may not have anything regarding him, in particular. "But you and Celestia--" As far as he knew were the only born Alicorn that remained. There was Leon but he was hardly a significant bouncer of power against him now, or ever. His eyes drifted over the map, the well traveled spirit having been many places in the past, causing all sorts of problems. Why was it warded against others who were not alicorn? It was just a map. "I find it a bit -- odd." he stated, moving to perch himself on the back of the princess' seat, forearms crossing once more in a rather, grumpy manner.
Princess Luna slid herself back into her seat, leaning on one armrest when Discord came to investigate. "There may be something of importance that they have either hidden or is hidden at the end of this map, for one reason or another. I cannot claim to know the minds of alicorns who have existed centuries before us." The princess expressed while Discord perched himself behind her. "I promised Agate that I would translate this tablet and draw out the map for her own use, for she seems quite interested in old artifacts." Luna mused and floated over a bare parchment with a quill.
Discord Draconequus blinked and looked down to Luna. "Hold on a moment." he moved his paw to flick the quill from her hoof were she so inclined not to hold onto it. "You're going to give a strange unicorn a amp, translated from something by alicorn, only other alicorn can handle, let alone probably read? Yet you tried to keep the bell away from me? Now that doesn't seem fair. whose to say whatever this map leads to, is any less dangerous?" Now he was mostly bothered by the fact -- that it was something belonging to the old Alicorns, something he was likely looking for, or could perhaps find. He could read the map, but why reveal that? Nopony ever asked him his opinion. "Seems pretty irresponsible, even for you Lulu~" He reached down to pinch her cheek with his claws.
Princess Luna recaught the quill with her magic, turning back to him with an unamused frown. "I never tried to keep it from you. I only wanted a chance to study it, before you ferreted it away to.. wherever you hide things." She expressed. "We will have to see what it says, if anything. Such old things often have riddles that might hint to what the map leads to. If it does not.. I suppose I can strike a deal with her to bring whatever it hides back, dangerous or not." Luna answered, leaning away from his cheek pinching. He was just all over things today, wasn't he?
Discord Draconequus was quite a clingy brat today. He did like to hide things that weren't his, but always for a good cause. Chaos was always a good cause to take and hide things. "Oh come now, are you perhaps interested in it yourself princess~?" he would vanish, appearing over the tablet, much much smaller than he was naturally, getting a fly's eyeview of the tablet. "Hoo puzzles you say? I know a certain busybody that loves solving problems." Himself of course, though Strife was quite known for his obsession for puzzles. Constantly solving crossword puzzles and word games kept the spirit sane in that painfully orderly and well mannered form. Not that he wasn't well mannered. He would resize himself and sit on the edge of the desk. "Oh but why busy yourself with such things today? I mean Old Equestrian is always so hard to read~ It's not like it would take you an evening to do. Put it off." He encouraged the princess to get slacking.
Princess Luna lifted her brows and nodded. Of course she was interested in it. It was old, something once owned or even made by past alicorn. "Yes." She murmured, leaning forward to peer over the map, once the small Discord was out of the way of course. "I busy myself with them because they are interesting, and there was much information lost about the ancient days. If this map could tell us, how great a discovery do you think that would be?" Luna said and countered, "Would it not be much better than dealing with paperwork?"
Discord Draconequus slumped a bit. Alright so it was more amusing to solve maps and figure them out, but -- he was still resistant. He moved his head so he blocked the mare from viewing the tablet. "Come on Lulu ~ the egg is asleep, you're awak, the moon can be bright tonight~" He waggled his brow. "Let's go play." He murmured suggestively. Becasue there was no way in Tartarus he was going to let that get translated, not while there was breathe in his bones! "Come oon~ " As he tried to jsut hover over the tablet he slipped and bumped against it, only for a surge of magic to suddenly shock his system, sending him rolling forward. He shifed his weight so he did not land on Luna, but tumbled to the floor, head bumping against the arm of her seat as he spooled to the floor like a bad ball of yarn. "...ow."
Princess Luna made an annoyed noise in her throat when Discord blocked her view of the tablet yet again. She was starting to feel like it was less clinginess, and more like he was obstructing her on purpose. Her ears flicked back at his suggestive murmuring and she was half tempted to do something impulsive just to distract him. But it seemed he'd accidentally touched the tablet, keeping her from doing anything more than flinching as he went tumbling past. "Discord!" Luna said with concern, sliding out of her chair and pushing it out of the way. "Are you okay?"
Discord Draconequus grumbled and pushed to sit up, rubbing his chin. He raised his right arm, the fur on his elbow sticking up on end, sparked with magic. "Tastes faintly of grape." He commented as he pushed to sit back on his haunches. "What the blazes sort of sadistic spell is that!? You don't just force magic into ponies like that!" He complained, sitting back, rubbing his elbow. He glared at the tablet before looking to Luna. "Okay fine, enough games." he held up his index fingers. "I don't like the idea of some snobby Unicorn tossing around artifacts in hopes that some other pony can figure it out for them to take the credit." Nor did he like the idea of his hoofrints possibly being followed. "But since you are so keen on figuring it out -- if you play a game with me, I;ll give you a hint~" He allowed a folded envelope to appear in his forepaws, giggling.
Princess Luna knelt by him when he sat up, looking him over for any sort of visible damage. She couldn't see, if there was, but she saw the sparks of magic. It may have hurt him, but it seemed to have shocked him out of.. whatever mood he'd been in. Now he just seemed grumpy. "Wouldst thou likest a kiss to make it better?" Luna teased with eyebrows raised, but she listened to him and eyed the envelope he manifested. "I have my plans, should whatever the map leads to be important, but what is this game?"
Discord Draconequus nearly dropped his envelope, causing it to vanish before he goofed that. He held his claw to his elbow. "Pbbft. I'm fine." He felt a little embarrassed when she offered. He supposed it was a weird thing to say, though it seemed perfectly normal -- maybe it was because he was the one doing the teasing. "That's not very lady-like princess." He flatly complained and ruffled his feathers. "Alright, so you are correct I do like hiding things. So princess let's have a scavenger hunt. I have something hidden in the castle for -- emergencies. If you can follow the clues and find it--" He let the envelope reappear in front of her. "I'll help you decode the map." Instead of getting in the way, continuously.
Princess Luna quirked an eyebrow at the draconequus and fought back a smirk; she was concerned for his well being, but at the same time he'd deserved it for repeatedly getting in the way. "Very well." The princess said and listened to what game he had planned for her. It sounded simple enough. Luna took hold of the envelope in her magic, should he allow her to do so, and looked at it with interest. "I shall take up your little game, if this is how you want to play it."
Discord Draconequus cackled and grabbed his hoof and talon with his paw and claw, glee! "I am glad to see you are up for the challenge princess!" He rubbed his paw and claw together. "Follow your first clue -- oh and no using magic." he hovered over and booped her horn. "Wouldn't want me to lick it again now do we?" Discord you really -- need to learn how to word things appropriately. The first clue seemed to detail a place you can get a flower, you can't find in the garden. It seemed harmless enough, considering Discord, but he did love his scavenger hunts. Maybe this one is a bit more benging than a maze full of moral inhibiting traps.
Princess Luna opened the envelope and pulled out the paper within for the first clue. She puzzled over it. He'd said within the castle, so it couldn't be anywhere outside.. ? A vase, perhaps? The princess jerked a little when he tapped her horn and she leaned back. "Of course not." She said, standing up with the little hint still held. "As long as your hints are not anywhere too high up." Luna added, striding around her desk. Hmm, places where flowers were..
Discord Draconequus rolled his eyes. "I'm cunning and conniving, not a monster!" He crossed his arms over his chest to float after the princess. Yes he had forgotten her wing was hurt. His elbow still tingled a bit. It was like bashing his elbow into a wall. The most vile of sensations. No true pain just -- really grody. He moved his paw down to try and carefully touch her wing. "I can heal it a bit if you'd like?" He wasn't sure what to say, now that he felt the full embarrassment of 'kiss it better'. "I'd offer other means of healing but they are hardly appropriate." Wings were delicate and she could have broken it far worse... he was so stupid.
Princess Luna snorted and exited her office, thinking to close the door behind them once Discord had left it. She felt a paw on her wing, which twinged slightly, but she showed no sign of it when she'd turned back to face the draconequus. "If you like." The princess answered, standing still for him. It'd give her a little longer to think over the first clue, knowing it possibly couldn't be as simple as it seemed. Could be a vase, could be the kitchen..
Discord Draconequus tries to recall that healing spell. It wasn't hard for him to cast healing spells, given he could reverse, rebuild and remake things from the base building blocks of existence, but it was also: summarily, not a good idea. He did pretty good this time around, nearly maximizing the effect, but it was still a weak learned ability. "So princess, have you given up?" He chuckled, moving to hover upside down, muzzle to muzzle with the princess. "Just let me know if you give up. We can't all be super sleuths~" He snickered. It was a pretty easy clue, the first one, but he was underestimating the princess' abilities to begin with. He miniaturized himself and perched on her horn. "We can just forget about the game and frolic in the moonlight." Anything to tempt the princess away from her path, because chaos was pure temptation against one's natural duties and desires.
Baokros Had transverse most of the castle in the morning, and now that night was closing in, the foal felt hungry, yet there was no pony around to ask where the food is, and he doubts that they will answer, as he has seen some of the guard and they appear quite stiff, like statues. "Food...glorious foood." The little foal started humming a tone to himself as he kept looking. Most castles have their dining areas downstairs, on the left side of the Main Hall. At least that is what he believes it is. So, he had to get downstairs first, since he was on the top floor at the moment. Why would that Discord leave him here like this, without showing him where the places of the castle are. How is he supposed to find things. The foal grumbled as he arrived at the stairs. "Going down.."
Princess Luna stood still until he'd finished with the spell on her wing. It felt a little better, and it was nice of him to offer, but it was short lived. "I have not. I hope to search the castle in the likeliest places.. and even then I will not back down." She sniffed, starting off again. Maybe she'd check the kitchen first, it was just one place rather than a few- flowers were often used in Equestrian meals, so why not? Luna came to a halt when Discord got into her face, and onto her horn. Pfft. "A tempting offer, but not until I have succeeded."
Discord Draconequus sighed and reappeared beside her at his full size. "Very well." He had to figure out a way to get her off that path. This was but a minor distraction. His ears pricked as he followed the princess toward the kitchen. Ho hoo, what's this? Perhaps this was a send from Lauren herself~ He floated up and looked down at Luna. "You are rather tenacious dear Lulu, but you'll never figure this out." He was proud of his riddle and turned to see if he could spy the distraction, but it has yet to get close. "What would you do if you figured the tablet out?" He wondered. "It could be something horrific for all you know." He did want to convince her out of it. Having his paw forced like this was troublesome. What do you do to your friend when they came close to things you wanted nopony to know about?
Baokros after a long walk down the steps of the castle, the little foal finally came downstairs. His tummy had begun to grumble, as he had not eaten the entire day, instead focused his time on sightseeing, he should not waste time like that. "Foood glorious food, pots lettuce and tomatoes." He mumbled his little tone as he finally reached the main hall, and turned left, hoping that the dining room will be there, instead he found the guard barracks, without any guards of course. Heading back to search the other side, entering the hallway, which ultimately led him to the dining room. "Finally....I am as hungry as a horse...or a yak."
Princess Luna glanced up at Discord when he commented on her- the more he taunted her, the more she just wanted to prove him wrong. She would figure out his riddle. "If it turned out to be dangerous, I suppose I will have to just keep it out of the wrong hooves. If not, I see no harm in allowing another to take the expedition when I cannot. I am sure the incentive of payment might convince Agate to report back to me, should she be shady. She does not strike me as such." Luna explained to them as she reached the kitchen's doors. She went inside- unbeknownst to her, Discord had brought the wayward foal into the castle. All she was concerned with right now was searching through the kitchen's supply of flowers. It seemed ridiculous, but she'd try every option.
Discord Draconequus seated himself over a chair. he allowed a cup of chocolate milk to appear in his paw before sipping at his leisure through a bendy straw. "Stubborn as always." he regarded. "You know we can always go on a treasure hunt together." A pair of sunglasses appeared over his face. "Just you and me in the hot Saddle Arabian sun. I can work on my tan, you can work on not -- being a hermit." He loudly slurped from his cup, blowing some bubbles to distract the princess. "We can deepen our friendship!" He laughed out.
Baokros kept on mumbling his tune, by the time that Luna and Discord had entered the kitchen, he was already clearing out half the refrigerator. Making himself a potato salad, with spinach. Then after some spring rolls, yummm. This little foal was making himself a meal. Suddenly his ears twitch at the sound of two recognizable voices. One, he can tell immediately was The Spirit. The other, he recognizes as the last pony he saw right before he had his little episode. "Mhmmm...they must be hungry as well, reminding his own manners and left them some food, after all he was a guest in this castle. Levitating the potato salad as he notices the Princess, but she failed to notice him, seemingly focus on something else. Letting out a soft cough. "Ahem...Hello?" He says as he sets the salad bowl on a table and begins to dig in. He did not see The Spirit though, as he was probably levitating, thus out of his field of vision.
Princess Luna flicked her flowing tail at Discord with a shake of her head. "I would rather not be out in the hot desert sun at all. I would collapse!" She exclaimed and stopped when she heard a little voice. Seeing as she'd never gotten a chance to speak to the little foal, she didn't recognize it. The princess looked around until she spied the colt in question, seating himself at the table with a plate of food. "Oh, good eve. I did not know you were staying at the castle." Luna answered, surprised. "I presume Discord brought you here."
Discord Draconequus found this bit of information amusing. "Are we sensitive toward the sun my dear princess~?" Hoow quite amusing. "Perhaps, instead, we should take more moonlit walks, on a beach~!" He floated down and leaned to hover over the foal. "Well he was wandering around without tags, figured I just take him home with me, and since your place was within the boundaries of a two-dimensional reality, I figured: why not!" He mused and continued to watch the princess struggle.
Baokros looked towards the dark princess, smiling before blushing a bit, as his ears collapsed. "Sorry...about last time, I uh must have fainted." He said as he begins to munch on the salad. "Princess?...wait what?" Princess? Wait was she? No...she couldn't be right. Yet from closer inspection, she has wings, and a unicorn horn. Yes...Yes she is! He could not believe it. He must say something quick, as this changes everything. "Uhhhh....are you? Are you really royalty?" He asked, if she was, then he will need her help, as a matter of fact, a lot of ponies need her help.
Princess Luna glanced towards Discord with a furrowed brow and chose to ignore most of his comments. "He is a foal, not a pet. Where are his parents? Have you stooped to foalnapping yet again?" She asked him with a little shake of her head. The colt grabbed her attention again and she waved away his apology with a hoof. "Please, do not worry about it. Indeed, I am. I am Princess Luna." She was surprised the little colt hadn't known that, thus why she hadn't introduced herself in the first place. It became a moot point when everypony already knew your name. Luna wandered over to the table, looking down at her clue yet again. A flower that could not be found in a garden.. it couldn't be as literal as that.
Discord Draconequus gasped, pressing his paw to his chest in mock offense. "Princess, are you insinuating I make a hobby of this? Rude~" He cooed in annoyance as he took a sip from his chocolate milk before making plenty of bubbles all over. Made an audible snort, as if he could hear her mentally cursing his riddle. He rest his elbows on the table, looking between the princess and foal. He snaked his tongue off the straw when his fang-filled jaws parted. "Oh my, quite rude of you not to introduce yourself to my guest Lulu~" He gave a cheeky grin and returned to sipping.
Baokros Smiled and nodded. "Hello Mr Discord." He said before turning towards Luna. A princess, either this was luck, or a huge opportunity. His ears twitch as he sees her struggling with a piece of paper. "My name is Baokros." He said as he gently leaned in to spy on it. A place you can get a flower, you can't find in a garden." He read the strange riddle, curious as to its meaning. Nomming on the salad as he kept it in his mind. "Mhmm....does this castle have tracery windows?" Long shot though, he doubts it.
Princess Luna was, indeed, sort of cursing Discord's riddle. She didn't do too well with them, having a slight inability to think around corners; she sort of took them more literally. "Yes, I am." The moonbringer answered the spirit bluntly. She used a wing to try to wave away his bubbles and looked back down at the colt- Baokros. He seemed curious in her clue. "It is pleasant to meet you proper, Baokros. What is a tracery window?" She'd never heard of it, or at least if it was a different name for something, she wasn't aware.
Discord Draconequus finishing his milk he leaned his chin over the back of his paw. As he spoke the straw would dangle from his jaws. Luna's sass was getting over 9000. He narrowed his eyes, recalling her earlier bottom waggle. Maybe he sh-- he smacked his muzzle and sat himself up. A tracery window Luna," motioned his paw drawing the shape, manifesting a familiar shape because he liked being a cheeky lil -- He smirked and leaned back before eating the glass he had his milk in. Floating off the table he hovered over the princess, his digits wiggling. "Come now princess you're inside all day, you should certainly be able to find a window, unless you're allergic to them too." Now that he knew she is the sort to faint in the sun, oh he was going to run that joke dead.
Baokros looked at Luna then as he was about to explain it, Discord jumped in and drew what appeared to be something else entirely, not exactly what he had in mind. "Uhhh..." He thought as he looked at it. "That actually looks like Mosaic." He said, maybe in Equestria they call Tracery as a form of Mosaic. But that is not what he meant, when he said Tracery Window, maybe they didn't have it....wait a moment yes they did. "You know, that huge window on that gigantic tower temple in Phrance?"
Princess Luna looked up from the foal to Discord when he decided to manifest that, but it got the point across. "The stained glass windows." She stated flatly. She remembered those windows, detailing the six's victories. "I see, but alas, unfortunately for you I am not allergic." The princess snorted and turned back to Baokros, looking faintly puzzled. "I am afraid I have not caught up entirely on other countries, nor have I seen such an image from Prance." Luna answered. Poor princess, she was still so behind in some regards.
Discord Draconequus was a cheeky little ball of monstrosity. Motioned his paws. "It's the type of window frame these sorts of windows are usually laid out in, but you won't find any of them in Equestria. That sort of architecture is only found in--" he brushed his paw over his muzzle and laughed as his claw snuck behind his back. "W-well, ho ho, not in Equestria I can assure you." He gave a sweet smile toward Luna. "Well indeed lucky for me, to think I was taking the princess outside when she was with such delicate condition~" He popped his paw's pinky just to add a dollop of sass to his endeavors.
Baokros nods his head and looks at Discord. "Yeah, plus I don't think that style is used anymore, but I perhaps thought the castle we are in had some." He said before smiling to Luna. "I thought I could help solve the riddle by asking that question, a type of window that uses that style is called the Rosette, and it looks like a flower. So I thought a flower you get that is not in a garden, since you can get that window, but not specifically in a garden." He smiled, before finishing up his dinner, time to brush his teeth, comb his mane, then fall asleep...wait...why comb his mane, ad he somewhat felt like he has forgotten something. "Oh right, Princess I need to tell you something about.....snore* He said as he collapsed into a deep sleep, foal was tired from walking around the castle all over the place all day.
Princess Luna narrowed her eyes at the draconequus when he continued to tease her about that. "I am not delicate. Were you to have a coat as dark as mine and stand out under the sun, in the heat, all day, you might pass out too." She retorted and turned back to the little colt. "I thank you for trying to help, but this certainly gives me a better idea of where to look." Luna said and waited for him to tell her something.. but he fell asleep. Poor guy, he was probably worn out. Luna patted him on the top of his head and turned her full attention back on Discord, eyebrow raised. She decided to sit there and stare at him while she pondered over new options.
Discord Draconequus grinned at the princess and moved to pet her alone her back. "Perhaps a shave is in order?" he whipped up his claw up, gripping a buzzing shaver before tossing it backwards, a loud thump heard. "Oh.. well he was tired. All this using chaos magic tends to do that for a while." He mused. His brows furrowed as she stared at him. he felt a bit unconscious under her gaze. The male sat on his haunches and stared back, unblinkingly. His spread his wings and gave a pout. Forked tongue slowly slithered out and touched the tip of his nose. Take that!
Princess Luna had been okay with the back petting, but the moment he brought out the razor, she leaned away. "That would not help!" She griped, straightening back up only once the razor was gone. Now she could relax and go back to thinking, other than the small distraction that was Discord touching his tongue to his nose. Her eyes narrowed. She couldn't think of any place in the castle she'd seen any resembling flowers.. and she knew it not to be actual flowers. Fleur de lis? No, she'd never seen those designs anywhere. None of the stained glass windows had anything either.. Luna's gaze drifted past the draconequus towards one of the shelves. Flour.
Flower? Hmm. The princess got up and approached the bag in question, picking it up to rotate it around to see if it had anything.
Discord Draconequus narrowed his eyes as a box of apple juice appeared. He stabbed the straw in as Luna would reveal the next envelope stickied to the flour bag. "Oh..congratulations." He dryly offered as he floated back and looked to his wrist where a watch sat. "It only took you two hours to find it." Though it didn't help he was distracting her to the maximum of his powers allowance without getting him yelled at. He appeared behind her and leaned. "Are you sure you can find the next clue? Lulu -- it's okay to lose the game." he all but purred into her ear before flashing back and resting on a hovering chair. "I understand that you're more the prosey, flowery sort." He reached into his coat of feathers and tossed out a thick book by Edgar Apple Pone, the heavy thing thunking on the kitchen floor, embedding into it.
Princess Luna found the note with some triumph and peeled it off of the back of the flour bag. Before she could return to the table, and Discord, she opened it up to read, but she was temporarily distracted by his purr into her ear. "Ah.. yes, I am sure I can find it." Luna replied with determination. When he was gone, she finally got moving and came to a halt when he pulled out a large book. Luna bent her head to read its cover, looking mildly interested. Huh. Maybe she'd pick it up later, but Discord wasn't going to stop her. Luna seated herself at the table again and opened the clue to read.
Discord Draconequus he was remiss to let her continue, but she was pretty for it. It waas kind of fun having a scavenger hunt where ponies lives weren't on the line... Open on warm days of spring, but left unused during times much too cold. If it is a clue you seek, it's on my lip. The spirit crossed his forepaws over his chest watching the princess get excited about her clue. She did find it on her own, so he was proud. Almost disappointed she didn't check the vase, for he hides Poison Joke in there sometimes. "Well my dear, are you ready to continue?" Ever the tease.
Princess Luna pondered over the next clue, mouthing the words. "Windowsill?" She guessed, but what windowsill if it was one? The castle had too many windows to list. The princess looked up at Discord again, nodding. "Of course I am." She rose from the table, passing the foal, to make her way out of the kitchen- unless something stopped her. The clue, like the last one, probably wasn't as obvious as she'd jump to. She just needed a little time to mull it over- and how long it was taking her didn't bother her all that much.
Discord Draconequus would put Bao to bed while she considered her approach. He could not help the smirk of amusement painting his features. He truly was an evil creature sometimes! After tucking the foal in the spirit would take a look at the bell. Something about the foal didn't make sense -- it didn't add up. He talked about tracery... that's only seen in more distant regions. How far did the bell take him? When did it? Maybe -- He took the bell from his fur and tapped his claw over it, 'ringing', the silent toy. Ah, silly Luna for leaving such a thing in the paws of a chaos master. He very much did not like things being kept from him. He glanced up, the portal that had been placed in Luna's office -- recalled. His ear perked as the tablet, and any other arbitrary papers, quite possibly her chair and desk, would be nom om om'd by the portal. "Whoopsie~" he tapped the bell, closing the portal again before flashing out to reappear at Luna's side. "Anything?" He abruptly asked.
Princess Luna hadn't expected Discord to linger behind, too absorbed in her thoughts to notice. It seemed to be speaking of a windowsill, but what else could it mean? It was always what she last thought about, last considered. She didn't look around while she was slowly walking along until Discord reappeared. "No, nothing so far." Luna answered, puzzled. "The only thing I can think of is windowsill, but that cannot be it." She grunted and shook her head. This was going to take some time.
Discord Draconequus folded his forearms behind his back. "Tsk, tsk, tsk. That's a shaaaame. Well princess you can always give up and admit defeat. I mean even a princess like you doesn't have all the answers." He folded his arms behind his head. "It's too bad, I was actually having fun watching you hopelessly wander around the castle~! Good times." He gave the most devilish smirk. "Well you should get that ice creme sundae ready because when you admit defeat you'll be making me one. To the victor go the spoils and all." He slid a pair of hipster sunglasses over his face. "Your horn had a good flavor. How about sea salt taffy ice creme?" He rubbed his feathered belly.
Princess Luna wrinkled her nose and frowned a little. "You seem quite adamant that I give up on your game. I do not think I can, for I am not the type to admit defeat." The moonbringer replied, lifting her head up high and strutting off. She had a bit of an idea to quiet him, perhaps in the very hall full of the stained glass windows detailing what has happened and the six's victories. It was a good place to start, for once, as for the second reason.. well. He'd just have to see.
Discord Draconequus dropped down to all fours, eyes narrowing. "I am adamant when it comes to winning my dear." He puffed up like a cock and ambled behind the mare. His ears folded back. He was half tempted to change the mosaics on the windows, but he couldn't cheat at his own game. Lowering his raised claw he hobbled up to her side. "Can't you just listen to reason for once Lulu? I'd say we make the ice creme sundae, some hot fudge and go snuggle, watch some movies! I have some great DVDs~" he rambled on about something or another. He tried every which way to convince her to give up. He really didn't care now if she solved the encryption, heck he'd even tell her -- now he just wanted her to give up! He wanted to see her say '
Iyaan Dissy I am defeated~! Tell me your secrets!' He laughed out in amusement.
Princess Luna could probably share his desire to win- she wasn't going to back down and she wanted to make that clear. His comment, however, made her pause for a moment. "What is a.. ? Nevermind." The moonbringer shook her head and quickened her stride to a trot for the hall in question. "I am afraid not, however lovely an idea it seems. Perhaps after I have beaten you at your own game." Luna said; it seemed the more she persisted, the more he tried to convince her to stop. Nah. She soon lead them to the hall in question and parted the double doors with her magic. Why, look at all these stained glass windows.
Discord Draconequus's ears snapped up at the arrogant sass. His heart would be a flutter, if he wasn't so competitive! His back arched, feathers ruffling in all the right places. When she hastened her movements he tried to, but his cantering hobbles were no quicker than his wobbling hobbles! He pushed his hind legs off the ground before floating off. He moved much faster slipping between dimensions anyway. He hovered behind the alicorn mare, only for him to flatten when the hall of windows was revealed. "Oh poo." he raised a paw, that temptation to reverse all the images coming on strong. He looked at his paw, than to the glistening windows, then to Luna. Well he knew what kind of draconequus he was. He would press his paw at the top of the back of her flank and before she could respond, he would attempt to brush his paw down her back -- in reverse of her fur's draw, to backwards pet her. A really just irritating feeling, ugh!
Princess Luna slowed back to a walk once they were inside, but before she could say anything, she felt a paw on her back. The princess froze up at once and started to turn her head to berate him, but then Discord moved his paw in the opposite direction that her coat flowed. Her body tensed up at the almost painful irritation of her fur being pushed the wrong way. Luna immediately wiggled away from Discord and turned to face him with narrowed eyes- she'd have to find a brush and flatten her coat back, at some point. "That was quite uncalled for." Luna quipped and moved away, looking up at the stained glass windows. "It is interesting that you should show me the one of mine own defeat, but what do we have here? My sister and I, sealing you in stone.. and what of that one down there?"
Discord Draconequus shirked back, lowering himself down to all fours once more. She was growing too clever. Perhaps, next time, he should up the ante. Grey ears folded back as he glared up at her, though kinda worth seeing her totter away from his pettings. Ho ho ho! "Oh, you needed help to do that!" He accused, though fairly so! It was the truth. "You were stopped just as many times as me! By the same ponies!" Though that was ... why was that mirrored in such an odd way. He raised his tail and scoffed. "Pointing out such things won't change the fact you'll never figure out the next clue! I made it quite difficult!" He assured, though not as hard as he had hoped with Luna.
Princess Luna pursed her lips when he countered her sassing. "Touche." She replied, tilting her head back a little. "Oh, I do believe I shall find it soon enough." Her eyes focused on the stained glass windows, one at a time, until she found the one with Nightmare Moon. Herself. The princess paused to stare up at it for a moment before her eyes moved down, and there she spied.. a book? It wasn't an envelope like the first two. Did somepony leave it here? Luna approached and picked it up to flip through its pages, curious.
Discord Draconequus sneered at the princess' sass. He frumped back on his haunches, glaring up at her. When she found the book he was -- quite remiss to admit it. Raising up his paw and claw he rolled his eyes, glaring off as he provided unamused bravo to the mare. He slumped down, wings raising off his back. "Fine. You win." He admitted. "It was a foal's game anyway." He would attempt to diminish her victory. Though it as not a very nice thing to do, he was a sore loser as it were. "Let's just get on with it." leaned back, just a dramatic queen.
Princess Luna found herself very interested in the book she'd found. Translations! She returned to Discord, her nose half in the book, and looked up only when he began to clap. He looked upset- probably was upset because she'd beaten him. The princess tried not to smile and extended her good wing to pat his shoulder with the tips of her feathers. "It was a fun game, and fair, despite all your attempts to thwart me." Luna said. "Now, how about we return to my office so I can properly decode that tablet?"
Discord Draconequus rolled his eyes before tucking his wings against his body. "Fine." Well at least he wasted a good amount of time. It was pretty fun playing a game. Though -- he couldn't help but feel he was forgetting something.... He hobbled along for a few feet before floating after the mare of night. Crossing his forearms his paw's index digit tapped against his bearded chin. "Why do I feel as if I'm forgetting something....?" He didn't forget to turn off the stove. he choose not to wear pants today. It wasn't going to rain -- and he was sure the light turned off in the fridge when he closed the door... What in Equestria ...?
Princess Luna strolled past the draconequus for the double doors to lead the entire way back through the halls to her office. She heard Discord mumbling about something behind her, but other than a flick of an ear, she didn't ask him. Wasn't he always forgetting things, or pretending to? Oh well. The princess paused just outside her office once it was reached, should nothing stop her from her destination beforehoof, and opened the doors... to utter destruction. Her chair was gone, her desk was gone, the tablet was gone, and everything was a mess. "What in
Equestria?"
Discord Draconequus sat up and clapped his claw fist into his paw's palm. "That's what I forgot." He suddenly barked. "I left the portal on." he blurted out before floating off the ground. "Well, good luck with that Lulu." he yawned and stretched out as he hovered off the ground. "I am exhausted. Long day of scavenger hunting really brings a god of chaos down, you know?" He materialized his pajyamas on him and held Unikrom tucked against his forepaws. "Well good night~" He moved to float off, back to the princess as his eyes widened. Whoops.
Princess Luna jerked around and stared at Discord in disbelief. "You did this?" She exclaimed, aghast. "What about the tablet? And my office?" There was no way she was going to let him float off so she could 'deal with it.' She had no idea where the portal even took any of her stuff. "You get back here and help me! I do not know how to retrieve it, that bell is magic you know!" Luna spat, becoming incensed. The game had been fun, and it had put her in good spirits to sass the draconequus in turn, but this had taken a sour twist. "This is not a funny joke."
Discord Draconequus's ear twisted back, face grimacing as she complained. "Oh, come on now..." He appeared at her side, sans the pyjamas. "It was all in good fun, need need to take it so personally~" He reached into his feathers and pulled out the little wooden bell, holding it up. "It's just like invisible ink -- with time twisting transdimensional cosmic powers...." That did not roll off the tongue as well as he thought it would. He scratched at his beard. "...it was sort of funny... right?" He held up the wooden relic in his claws, pinky out.
Princess Luna's ears pinned back and she looked back into her poor, messy office. "My office is a mess. I do not know if I can find it funny." She replied with a twitch of her tail. "The game you played with me was fun, but I am greatly disappointed to return to this and the tablet gone. If you are so curious about it, I will gladly share what it says with you. Please, bring back my things." Luna bid him, trying to fight her quick anger back down. Yelling at him further was probably not the best way to go about things.
Discord Draconequus pouted, as usual, and sulked as he floated off the ground. He looked to her and her messy office. It was kinda funny... Folding his ears back he held the bell up to his ear. "Oh all right!" The tip of his claw tapped against the wooden surface. No sound, but after a moment the creaking crack of something moving. Discord looked around in confusion. "Oh." He reached out his tail to snap around the princess and drag her closer to him as the objects it question landed with a monstrous thud against the ground, papers raining everywhere, the tablet flopping itself in Luna's seat. He looked up, paw pointing. "Miscalculated that one by a decimal point." Whoops.
Princess Luna couldn't find it in her to see it as something funny, not even slightly. Maybe it was because she trusted him not to mess with the tablet, and just play a harmless game with her. Guess she was wrong, again- maybe she was placing too much trust in him? The dark alicorn waited patiently as he activated the bell, and found herself pulled against him when everything seemed to fall out of the ceiling. Her chair, desk, the tablet, and a rain of papers. Luna sagged against him, relieved. She'd have a heck of a time fixing everything back to the way it was. "Thank you."
Discord Draconequus loosened his grip and blinked. "Sorry." He looked at the bell in his paw and held it out to her. "I'd like to read it with you." He sat back on haunches looking at her with his big ol red eyes. He didn't want her mad. It was a pretty fund day and he liked hanging out with Luna. Discord didn't mean bad -- he was just sometimes a little naughtier, and selfish, and greedy. He gets a little better each day.
Princess Luna lifted her head and her gaze settled on the bell as he held it out to her. Was he giving it back? That she didn't mind so much, just the misusing part. "You can." She replied, hesitating and then levitating the bell off of his paw- if that was his intent to give it back. The princess reentered the office, skirting her desk, to pick the tablet back up. She was juggling three things now, but it meant little to an alicorn. Once Luna was sure her desk was rightside up, she put her tablet back down, with the book of translations and the bell next to it. She decided to remain standing, as she wasn't sure if her chair was safe, and looked up at the draconequus, beckoning him over. Her quill was probably somewhere in this mess but she'd find it later.
Discord Draconequus relinquished the bell. He moved to hover beside her, leaning his forearms on the top of her desk. He pointed to the bell. "I removed one of the glyphs, so nopony else can use the bell anymore. The foal can probably have it back." he opened his jaws and tossed the glyph into his mouth, eating it. He probably put it someplace for later. No telling where anything went when he ate it.
Princess Luna hummed when Discord spoke of the bell, and ate the activation glyph in the process. She supposed she could return it to the foal now, once he woke up- it would no long be seen as 'stolen.' Although whether or not the colt was aware that it had magic, and now no longer did, remained to be seen. The princess nodded and went rifling through her scattered things until she unearthed a feather, her quill, and pulled a blank piece of parchment off of the many scattered around her. Now she could get to translating. Once everything was set, Luna leaned over the stone tablet and the book.
Discord Draconequus sighed and leaned over like a nosy child, the draconequus watching the princess work. The old glyph marks were clear to him, though the way the Alicorn of olde coded it was an easy spot for the master of puzzles. Pointing his law to a certain glyph he mused. "This glyph doesn't existed in Old Equestrian, so you can surmise it is a negative marker, there to interfere with translation attempts, as is this one. Others like here, later inverted so they look like nonsense, but are just a reversed drawing of the glyph." He pointed toward the book of old Equestrian letters and various ways of manipulating it into secret writings. Was this perhaps somepony else made, or was it Discord? It was hard to tell his intents sometimes, but when he wanted something, he was usually most inclined to help. His tail tip twisted, body splayed out as if he was planked on a solid surface and not the air. His abuse of gravity was real.
Princess Luna turned her eyes to the glyphs that Discord pointed out, making a mental note to ignore it when she came across it. She decided to do the easiest thing first and started on drawing the map out in better detail on a second parchment. It seemed to be Equestria and neighboring lands, but there seemed more detail to their 'undiscovered west.' Huh. The writing would no doubt explain more. Luna shifted the two parchments back around so she could get to translating.
Discord Draconequus snorted, covering his muzzle with his paw whenever she made a mistake. "Oh princess not the puzzle solver are you?" He grinned, leaning his head close to hers, disregarding personal boundaries as he did. "Do allow me~" He cooed plucking a feather from his chest and levitating it toward the ink well. Dipping it the writing tool would find its way over Luna's parchment. He rest his face against his paw, claw lain on the table. He used his telekinesis with such ease, even without a horn, but one supposed if you lived as long and were as stubborn as Discord, you'd eventually get a handle on that. He scribbled cute Discord doodles along the edges. "I mean the coding system is so simplistic, really are you sure your ancestors were even trying?" He did enjoy the mocking aspect of hanging out. Tugging at her wit.
Discord Draconequus wrote along one of the mountains between the Undiscovered West, and Equestria. 'The Black Mountains'. He scribbled a pouting Luna on the corner of one. "I still say we trade places. You become my annoying sidekick and I the princess of Equestria~! I am sure I'd make a far more beautiful and skillful leader."
Princess Luna grimaced a little in irritation when Discord mocked her for it. "I do not make a habit of translating such old artifacts, or languages." She retorted but she let him take over, leaning back to watch him scribble down words easily. "Besides, you are older than I. You seem to know more of what you are doing." The princess added and gave the little doodles in the margin a skeptical look. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. "Nonsense, you shall not have my crown." Luna snorted, placing her quill back to the parchment and tried to translate some of it again, despite the draconequus's interruption.
Discord Draconequus giggled at her pouting. Ah her responses brightened his -- evening. Hrk. "Oh come now, I would look better in it anyway. Your regalia matches my feathers. And fur. And scales." He slickly added. "Purple doesn't match at all with my eyes~." he brushed off. He pushed his cheek flush against the mare's as she tried to once again translate a line, but failed. "Why! I am indeed older and more experienced... but you are much to straight laced my princess." He raised his claw to rest over her hoof. "You look at things much to literally, you have to take into account that looks are deceiving. Why I look like I fell out of bed like this! No... it took many years of hard, back breaking labor to become this handsome." He boasted. He moved his own quill over hers, making a correction, still flush against her form. Beneath the Black Mountains: Bumble Land. "Wednesday." He said, suddenly. The spirit stared off at the map, tail flicking behind him.
Discord Draconequus did not look to the princess. "We should go spelunking on Wednesdays." He offered, as if out of the blue. But he had been thinking about it. He had fun today scavenging for clues, watching the stubborn princess prance around. More fun than he's had in a while. The spirit had been feeling a bit lonely thus the chaos he had committed lately rivaled his usual tame games. Though some of it -- was not his own doing. He laid his head down on her hooves and glanced up at her. "I'm the best at causing chaos right? I'm not as bad as I used to be." Sure he did still like being naughty, but twas the nature of Chaos. He still wanted to be -- accepted though.
Princess Luna made a noise in her throat that was almost a whine when Discord moved in close, taunting her. It seemed she just wasn't very good at the whole translation thing, just like riddles. he had a point. She decided to put her quill aside for a moment while he corrected hers, but she did not withdraw her hooves from his claw, or later his head. "Spelunking for what"? Luna asked and looked down at him. She had to smile a little. "Yes, of course. You seem to do quite well at it."
Discord Draconequus laid his head sideways so he could entrap her hooves while still looking at the parchment. "Maybe old treasures. I suppose that part of me is a little dragon." More than he'd like to admit. But it was more combating an emotional state of self-worth. He constantly tried to become better, the best, but the only way he could do that was from outside sources. He would never become better on his own, so he had felt. "Powerful treasures to conquer Equestria." he mused, quill drawing about her parchment. "You can be my royal knight?" Seemed to be an upgrade from annoying sidekick at least. More and more places seemed to be revealed, but in the corners he seemed to be writing out letters that he pulled out from the coded names. Eventualyl down the side of the parchment would sit a row of scrambled glyphs that were truly nonsense. "Hmm left overs." He murmured, head moving to sit up, but he would remain a nuisance and would attempt to bump the top of his skull under her chin, remaining all up in her way.
Princess Luna hoped that the draconequus had been joking about 'conquering Equestria.' He probably was, knowing him. "Perhaps." She answered, pondering over the idea of treasure. She wasn't a greedy thing, not like a dragon and not like Discord. It was probably simple curiosity what those treasures might be, what it might contain- perhaps even more old relics. The princess pulled herself from her thoughts to focus on what Discord had been writing down, leaning her head forward before the spirit bumped up against it. Luna dropped her head on top of his and tried to read what he'd written. "What does it say?" She mused, hoping to get a good look without his interference.
Discord Draconequus squinted his eyes. "No idea." he flatly expressed. While his desire to conquer Equestria has diminished, significantly, he could not help but harbor the old habits of trying to insight anarchy. Too fun. His ears twitched as his muzzle pushed up into a pout. "They were extra letters from everything translated. Hooo so maybe your ancestors weren't so foolish~ Hiding an extra message." he had almost thought they were throw away glyphs. Whoops! Though ... he couldn't quite figure them out. Opening his paw the glyphs lifted off the paper and above the pair. he stared at it. What secrets did they have? Treasure was useless to him, he had no need for gilded, pretty things -- but if they had an iota of power, they were worth coveting. Oooh and Alicorn were quite good at hiding objects of power. He couldn't run the risk of anything else like the Elements of Harmony existing. His stone prison made him a bit sour, to say the least. He wouldn't go and hurt his friends -- but they never said he couldn't cause havoc elsewhere.
Princess Luna peered over at the map and noticed most of them had been the names of locations. Interesting. As for the other glyphs.. Her eyes followed them as Discord dragged them up into the air and she floated his translation book over. It probably didn't have those glyphs in it, if the book was his knowledge of old Equestrian. Still, it was worth a shot. Luna picked up her quill again in her magic just in case she needed it. "It might be a hidden message or.. something, if they would put in such mysterious symbols."
Discord Draconequus pushed off his spot on the desk and levitated up, forelimbs tucking. He floated around the logic defying glpyhs, looking in and between them. Folding his ears back he was a little annoyed. For a moment his feathers ruffled as he pulled his head back. His lion's paw flexed, claws slipping from their padded sheaths a moment. "Too clever." He hissed. Moving back toward Luna he latched himself to the back of her chair and peered his head over. "This isn't a branch of Old Equestrian I know. It's unique to Alicorn." He snapped his claw, six figurines appearing across the letters: a dragon, an earth pone, a pegasus, an alicorn and a unicorn. "Not every pony can use magic actively." Snapping his fingers he segregated dragons, earth and pegasus from the unicorn and alicorn. "Leaving a very narrow range of glyphs used for speech, and magic. Normally Unicorn and other groups capable of magic have a defined set of glyphs for magic." Snapping his claws a number of figures cycle through.
Discord Draconequus seemed bored as he rest his face in his paw, claw snapping away until it stopped on Alicorn. "Don't know where Alicorn came from, or when. But they probably had a magic system different from Unicorn. I know for a fact -- Alicorn have magic unique from Unicorn. But what I don't know -- is when your glyphs combined." It could explain the split between New and Old Equestrian -- the systems trying to combine. But he wasn't much of a history buff. He was more of a history lurker. He paid more attention to the magic rather than the educationally sound aspects of not repeating one's mistakes. "Sorry Lulu, seems you Alicorn just
loooove your secrets." He groused. Grumpy noodle truly did not like being outsmarted.
Princess Luna, with the draconequus out of her way, could lean back against her chair with a frown as he inspected and explained something about old Equestrian. She couldn't seem to find any translations on those glyphs and she found it most annoying that she could contribute nothing. "Alicorn, is it?" The princess frowned. "This is very old, it is impossible to tell when they did this." Luna huffed, irritated that the glyphs refused her their secret. "We may have to find a way to figure this out by looking at both unicorn and alicorn languages, maybe there is something to clue us in on what they combined." Luna grunted. They might have to dig into the Archives to find anything on it. Surely even Starswirl had something to help them?
Discord Draconequus huffed. So even Luna didn't have the answers. He was sure she was hiding things from him. He always felt a little paranoid around the two, assuming they had secrets they would not share with him. While it was probably the case sometimes... he had reason to believe they always held back on him. His ears perk when she mentioned Archives. Now such were not usually open to the general public. He flashed out, appearing upside down with his muzzle toward Luna's. "Oooh? Are we going researching?!" He pressed his paw and claw together, mischievous and full of ulterior motives as usual.
Princess Luna rubbed a hoof against her cheek. "We may very well have to, for I cannot figure it out. If you cannot either.." The princess flicked her horn at the map, levitating it and rolling it neatly for transport. She just didn't see any other option, and if even the Archives had no clue.. perhaps there was a unicorn or two who knew their old languages at the School for Gifted Unicorns that could help them. Those, at least, were options they did have. Luna stood and walked around her ruined desk for the door, glancing back briefly to see if Discord was coming- he seemed quite excited at the prospect.
Discord Draconequus was bristling with joy. When she folded up the parchment the magical projection of hi s letters vanished back into the map. "Somepony has to know." he wouldn't accept it! Nosing around places for information was always quite fulfilling, especially when he could spy on texts he was normally kept from. Having a princess leading you into the more hindered areas was -- abiding. "I believe in your abilities Lulu~ don't disappoint me!" He chuckled and floated after her. He paused a moment, glancing back at the desk. He was forgetting something --- but what? Shrugging it off he lurked after Luna, giddy wiggles~!
Princess Luna had to agree with that and started off, back through the castle. It was ridiculously huge, but a walk between areas did her some good, even despite the healing sprain. It'd be gone in a few days, at her guess. "I truly hope so." The princess murmured at last. If and once they finally reached the Archives, Luna preceeded the way inside and looked around at the tall, stately shelves with their store of books, and some of old scrolls. She took a breath, looking around at them and- focusing her mind on new and old languages, tried to summon forth books on them. It was easier than scouring the shelves and wasting more time, no?
Discord Draconequus was a breathe with glee. So many old scrolls and books to nose through! "Hoo hoo princess you surely hid quite a trove of treasures~" He flashed about, books circling his head, some scrolls unfurling about. The mischievous noodle did like nosing into business that wasn't his. But he was looking for something in particular. Healing spells aside there was a certain spell Azure had been working on that he was quite curious about. While he may not find it he could perhaps garner the unicorn's knowledge. She has been quite good at grasping new magic, something the spirit could not -- but would find out how to do.
Princess Luna's concentration was broken by Discord and her magic did.. absolutely nothing. She had no idea what was up with herself lately, unless it'd just been the shock of falling through a floor. She shook her head as though that would clear away the cobwebs and looked after Discord as he fluttered about, gathering books and scrolls. Luna attempted to snatch a few out of the air to see if they were anything they were looking for. If they weren't, she'd release them back into the wild and attempt yet another summoning spell for the languages she needed, regathering her focus. "Let me know if you find anything of interest."
Discord Draconequus had his forearms crossed over his chest, just generating a field of anti-gravity as Luna plucked books and tossed them back around him. It was like second nature for the spirit who sometimes did not think before he levitated ponies against their will or objects. He was upside down, tail tuft scratching at his chin. "Hmm, what?" When she asked him to keep an eye out. "Yes, yes." Dismissively waving his paw. He had taken interest in a particular book which he actually reached out to hold in his paw and claw. "Now why is it Twilight and her brother can use these spells so well... He sunk down and laid himself atop one of the shelves. He glanced up. "Find anything princess?" He called teasingly, giggling behind his book.
Princess Luna felt that Discord wasn't too interested, considering his dismissiveness. Very well then, she'd handle this herself. Her spell seemed to have drawn in a couple books on language, at least and she began to flip through them for anything. The map was floated back around, unfurling, so she could look at the 'throwaway' glyphs that Discord had written off to the side. "I am not sure." Luna replied distractedly, frowning at the books and parchment.
Discord Draconequus levitated his book over his head and pushed his paws to roll off the shelf before vanishing and appearing beside the princess. It looked as if she was struggling. While it usually amused him, she seemed rather -- at a loss all night. Maybe he blew her fuse with that scavenger hunt. He moved over and tugged at her ear. "Hey, you okay? It's not like you to struggle with your studies like this" Sure the sisters were smart and strong -- physically sometimes Tia scared him. He was a pure mage himself so worked against intelligence and magic. he was never much of a physical, front runner. "It would be no fun if you can't solve my puzzles, or even puzzles I cannot solve." There had to be something. But why does he keep feeling like he's forgotten something this evening???
Princess Luna released a sigh when she felt the tug at her ear and decided to seat herself there on the carpet. "I suppose I am, but this task seems ridiculously difficult, or its proving itself thus in my eyes." The alicorn grunted and peered closer at the pages on language. "Celestia is older than myself, she may have a little more luck with such a thing. She used to spend much time around Starswirl the Bearded, to boot.. but she is currently asleep and I could not trouble her. If I cannot tackle this.. puzzle as you call it, tonight, I will have to attempt to do so later."
Discord Draconequus felt badly. Luna did not usually have this much trouble. He still felt at fault because had he been more assertive, or mean -- she wouldn't have come into the building and hurt herself. She was all types of frazzled it seemed! He lowered down to the ground of the archive and settled beside the princess. He adjusted himself so his forelimbs tucked against his chest. He leaned against the forlorn princess. "Maybe you should sleep." He offered her a chance to -- give up, though this time not in the harsh, sarcastic manner. He wasn't chiding her or mocking her, at least for the moment. "I wish I could help." But maybe he could. There was something on the tip of his tongue, of which he slithered out to touch the end of his nose in thought.
Princess Luna considered the alternative and nodded- after all, she'd told herself that she would give up and try again later. Maybe she'd just tired herself out just trying to figure out a riddle and going all over the castle for it. "I fear I shall have to, but at least we have made some progress with the map and its locations. I would like to decode the rest of it before I bother to contact Agate. I want to affirm that it is nothing dangerous." Luna closed the books that floated in front of her and sent them back on their way, and tucked the refurled map under her good wing with the translation book. She leaned back up against the draconequus, relaxing somewhat. "Do not worry about it. We can try again later."
Discord Draconequus can't remember, can't even think about what to do to help Luna. He was rather ground about it, being the master of mischief and all it was really condemning. He pushed up, back stretching as he popped his old bones and grumped. the book he wanted to read levitated over his head, he wasn't giving it up, finally finding it. "I'm sure you'll find it later~!" He encouraged, not liking that the princess was bummed about it. Kicking off the ground he levitated behind the princess out of the archive. Well they tried. He really couldn't get over the feeling something was just -- forgotten. Well he had his days.
Princess Luna only stood up once the draconequus was off and followed after him, frowning deeply. It didn't seem to be her night- pun unintended. "Yes, I hope the same." She sighed and gave a shake of her head. Oh well, she couldn't achieve everything she wanted, nor get it. The princess looked up at Discord, eyeing the book he had brought along with him. "What is it you have there, is it anything that might help us.. ?" Luna asked, a little hopeful.
Discord Draconequus rolled to his back so he hovered over the princess on his back, forearm pulled behind his head. "Oh, no something interesting I picked up." He lowered it down to Luna, showing a page. A book on casting shield spells. "You ponies certainly have interesting new spells." He lowered down to her eye height, defying gravity as he defied most concepts of space and time. "Since we're taking a break on your puzzling, how about we read this together?" He was probably just being clingy -- and silly, but in truth he had a great difficulty reading New Equestrian so many of those glyph translated to nonsense to him. He would rather make a correct spell as opposed to turning somepony into a giant blueberry while smaller, orange furred, pygmy ponies danced about with random musical numbers involving their enslavement.
Princess Luna's expression fell to an annoyed one, but it was brief. She straightened up a little more to eye the book as it hovered in front of her, detailing spells. "Oh, of course, this will be something worthwhile to pass the time until the morning comes." The princess hummed for a moment, mulling something over. "There are a great many spells that have been discovered over the years, from what I am aware of, and shield spells do come useful. It would be a good idea to learn them," Of course, she was talking about Discord and not herself, she already knew shield spells, "I would be happy to assist in this."
Discord Draconequus had expected her to deny him, but smugly raised his head, puffing his chest. "Such a giving princess, offering your time to such a wretch as me~" He cooed following the princess along. "We can have hot cocoa too right? And popcorn. Marshmallow popcorn." He corrected with a wiggle of his tail. He floated down right close to the princess of the moon and tugged at her ear as he placed his cheek against hers, on the other side of his incessant tugging. "Such a studious princess to lend time to her subjects~" Though he was anything but a loyal subject, or one to subject himself. He pinched her cheek, the sly snake grinning, all the while keeping his secret~!
Princess Luna looked up at the being in question, looking confused at why he would call himself a 'wretch.' "You are no wretch, but.. ah, yes. We may have cocoa and your marshmallow popcorn." She said, shortly before she felt another tugging at her ear. Jerking away would only mean into his face, so she had to endure it as he pressed close. "It is the least I can do for a friend. Shield spells have saved many lives. Even Shining Armor used one to keep Canterlot protected, though his skill in such is only what kept him able to keep an entire city safe." Until the changelings attacked. No matter.
Discord Draconequus smirked. "Well it swells my heart to think that the princess of the moon has such a high opinion about me. Here I thought she was a one dimensional being. Just more and more layers revealed every time I talk to you~" He floated backwards, kicking his legs as if he was swimming through the air. His paw lay behind his head, right claw holding an onion as he bit down into it, shaping it like the waxing moon. "Well if you want to bring him up, he's a bit of a dork." he asserted. "I mean if you think having your ear to the ground while everypony is standing on the hill watching the enemies arrive -- useful." he protested, pointing to his blue-glowing eyes, finishing off the onion with a snap, rolling so his forearms slung in front of him, hind leg tucked up. He flashed out, appearing in front of the princess with a red jacket and greasy black wig. "I mean if you can't beat them, I suppose, join them."
Discord Draconequus he once again slipped from the plane only to appear sat, side saddle, on Luna's back at half his normal size. His hind legs were crossed, the spirit carrying a parasol over his shoulder, with a spring cap on his head. He tittered into his paws. "You talk of Armor like some love struck pony." He huffed a bit jealously. "You know I can fight off an armor of emotion eating bugs any day of the week." he squinted his eye at the princess. "Plus where were you during that time"? You don't strike me as a wandering Samurai." He vanished before reverting to his full size and settling into a relaxed float at her side, forearms crossed and floating backwards as she trotted forward, claw scratching at his beard. "Can you see it? Me a hero?" he cackled. "What do you think my hero name would be?" He posed heroically. "Mastermind?" He slumped. "No, no, too villainy -- Unicorn man?!" He snapped, Luna's horn appearing on his forehead.
Princess Luna quirked an eyebrow at the floating being. "I could say the same of you. There has been quite a bit I have learned about you, before and during the time you turned me into a filly." She retorted, amused. The princess listened to him as he rambled on, and gave his sudden reappearance and costume change a confused look. She.. understood nothing about it. When he disappeared again, she only just started to look around when she felt something on her back, and craned her head around to look. "I am not
love struck." Luna had no feelings for the stallion, she hardly knew him. "I was only using an example of how useful shield spells can be and
I was asleep. Nopony thought to wake me. If I recall, you were not there either; why you were back in stone." Luna snorted and felt his presence leave her back, though it also meant he took her horn as he started spouting off names. "You need no silly names to be a hero. Surely your own name suffices, 'lest you actually wish to hide yourself." Princess Luna reached up to pat her forehead to see if her horn really was gone, or if it was just some illusion on Discord's part. No, it really was gone, and it was as odd as losing her wings for a day.
Discord Draconequus snapped his claws returning her horn. "Yes well, I suppose Discord strikes fear in both enemies and allies alike!" Mostly exasperation in allies. "Pick a spot~! I'll get the popcorn and hot cocoa~" Excited the little spirit was on reading the book. He couldn't admit to Luna why he wanted to learn such spells. Yes it was indeed a selfless reason. Even Discord had the capacity to be selfless. He thought for a moment. "Hey Luna," he called to her much in the manner he used to, long ago.A soft voice a bit broken and croaky. He hummed. "Are you very close to Candy?" He questioned, the bowl of hot marshmallow popcorn appearing on his head, the book tucked in his forelimbs, against his chest.
Princess Luna removed her hoof quickly once her unicorn's horn was returned to her and walked on, pondering over a place. The dining room was near enough to her room, wasn't it.. ? No, she supposed it would be better to just go to her room, where they could relax by the fire- that way she wouldn't have to go far once she needed sleep. "My room." Luna decided aloud. The princess looked up at his change of tone, questioning. "I suppose, somewhat. She is my niece as much as Celestia's. I do not know her as well as my sister does, but I have grown to care for her for if Celestia considers her family, so do I."
Discord Draconequus flashed in and out as they walked, but the beast of chaos would eventually end up in the princesses bedroom, a peculiarly familiar landscape for him. As he rolled about mid air, the bowl of marshmallowy popcorn rest safely by the hearth. He took a moment to peek ad the egg, bouncing about between planes, never once just crossing a span of space without doing so. It was a miracle Discord didn't get lost between here and there, always finding his way back before. He listened to the princess a moment before lowering himself down to the ground by the bowl. His movements were convoluted, giving the various parts he had ti control. He did not bother tucking his legs, splaying out lazily. His forelimbs rest at either side of him: paw and claw relaxed. He allowed his wings to splay out, the fiend showing he was more comfortable in the familiar surrounding, but what an odd set of circumstances that did make it so.
Discord Draconequus looked down at his claws, the digits flexing a bit before the book reappeared, wherever it had fallen between his sliding. He laid his more sensitive paw on the book, the pads of the digits brushing over the surface. "Tell me Luna, do you love Candy the same way you love Tia?" He opened to book with his telekinesis, glancing up at the mare waiting for her to approach. There were still many things that even he needed to learn. Sighing his ears folded back before waving his claw. He would materialize the mugs of cocoa before crossing his paw and claw. Being that it was the middle of the night, hot cocoa was preferred to chocolate milk.
Baokros. The little foal's day went like this. In the morning he explore the castle, in the afternoon he had a snack, in the evening he explored the gardens, and right now as the sun had settled down, he kept exploring the castle, particular to his drawn attention were the two unique rooms that sat side by side. One with the symbol of the crescent moon overlapping the New cycle. The other was the daily cycle of the sun, from rising in the East, setting in the West...was it really, was it really pointing East and West. Then again, these sort of things were not there for a reason. Suddenly his ears twitch as he heard voices from the other side of the door. "Wuuhhh what? What's that?" The little foal said, as he pressed his cheek. Wait you foal, that is very rude of you.
Princess Luna wandered in and over to where Discord had settled himself down once they'd reached her bedroom. She settled herself down beside him, by the fireplace with was little more than coals. "Why do you ask?" The princess countered curiously, but she still intended to answer him. "I am.. unsure. I love Tia greatly, for she is my sister and lest something separates us for good, we will be together for eternity. Princess Cadance, I know so little of, and see little of her too. I do care about her, a love an aunt has for a niece no matter how distant or close." Luna said at last, unaware that the foal had awoken from his food coma and was just outside the room.
Discord Draconequus had remained up with Luna after the foal went to sleep, the night not even coming to day yet, though it wold be soon. He pushed the book to the side, enticing the princess of the moon to come closer. "Call it -- curiosity." Well that's what it was! He was rather intrigued in by the concept for a while. "A -- family member of mine has come to me for aide, I was simply wondering the course of action given they had been so distant." Now for Cadence, such a lie was easily accepted. But Discord had no family. He had only his friends. The ancient draconequus was alone in all of the world. he leaned his weight on his left arm so Luna came to rest on his right, next to his paw. Perked his ear and glanced toward the door before he would move to raise his paw to drag the princess closer, against her will. "Closer Princess, so I can hear your lovely reading voice. You should speak in your old way more often. I like it better." Phooey to modern lingo!
Baokros shakes his head, that's Discord. He thought at the familiar voice, and the other one is the Lady Princess. He smiled as he knocked on the door. He knows for a fact that that the Princess will be able to help, and also hopefully Discord had found his bell, this little foal misses his little bell, and he would be very sad if he had to face loosing a friend's momentum forever. His little tail swayed as he waited for the door to be open. His little tail swayed, as he gently combed the messy mane...unicorns...always so prissy.
Princess Luna eyed that beckoning and decided to move in closer, perhaps helped once the draconequus pulled her close. Flatterer. "A family member?" The princess fixed Discord with a puzzled look- Discord didn't have family. Friends could be considered family, but it seemed odd he used that word. "Who is it, and what is it that you need help with?" Luna asked, clearly curious. There was a knock at the door then, and the alicorn canted her head at it. "Come in." She bid, using her magic to open one of the dual doors. Oh, was it Baokros?
Discord Draconequus was quite charming, when he wasn't being an egotistical megalomaniac and bearer of chaos. Lowering his head a smirk drew itself on his features. "Oh one of my creations seems to have woken from a dreadful slumber. I've been a rather neglectful father, so I wanted to aide them, protect them if you will." He grinned moving to boop his muzzle beneath her chin with a taunting, almost scathing glare, as if leading the princess. He could be a bit of am manipulator, but teasing was his specialty. "As any good parent would. You'll help me learn these new spells won't you princess? You're skill with them is rather impressive, if I do say so myself." He drew his head back before he scratched his claw against his beard, smirking a bit. "Oh look who has roused from their nap." Since it had only been a few hours since. Foals really had the oddest sleep schedules, though he couldn't talk as oft items he'd find a random spot and fall asleep.
Discord Draconequus respectively tucked his paws against his body. "I must say Lulu, you have such a polite house guest." He chortled, seeing as it was his choice to just bring in the stray foal, and leave him here. His ruby-yellow eyes turned toward Luna, head remaining facing forward. "Interesting." He murmured. "Have you ever noticed -- your mane Luna..." he paused. "...quite lovely." He chuckled, as if just thinking to himself.
Princess Luna gave Discord a look when he spoke of some 'creation.' She opened her mouth to ask, but he bumped her chin from beneath and dropped her head on top of his. "Tell me of this creation, and indeed I shall help you with these spells." The princess said with a little smile. A glance was cast back at her bedroom door, and noticed the foal seemed to have left- perhaps to respect privacy seeing as they were snuggled up by a fire with cocoa. "Indeed." Luna murmured, returning her focus fully onto Discord again. Was he seriously complimenting her mane? Furthermore, she wondered if he was being generous or just 'buttering her up' as the saying went. It didn't seem to matter, a light blush had still appeared on her cheeks. Luna chose the moment to take a sip of her cocoa and await his answer.
Discord Draconequus slid his head from beneath her chin before he levitated the cocoa cup to his muzzle, his paw and claws resting tucked. His snaggletooth brushed against his lip as the smirk painted back over his features at Baokros retreat. Excellent. Sipping the hot drink his ears folded back, eyes once again resting upon empty space before him. Sometimes he could be calm, cool and collective, but that was the false sense of security that chaos held. While it serviced him, he would carry his noble air about him, but it was his true nature. He was a relaxed, gentle creature, with a vindictive streak. He can go from leading, lulling adviser towards lawful tomfoolery, to a destructive typhoon of anarchy. If it suited him, he would have upon it. Right now Luna's discomfort was a relative advantage he rarely had. "Oh, well she's a sweet thing. She has my eyes." Were they cataract infected zombie eyes...
Discord Draconequus cleared his throat and sipped his hot cocoa before setting it down, paw moving to rest on the book's pages. "She is very shy though, downright skittish... so I promised to help her find a way she could move about other ponies, being protected." He sighed, his paw dramatically coming to his forehead. "What sort of father would I be to say no to those eyes, that drippy face~?" He smirked, setting his paws down, an unquestionable drama queen, who was not telling everything, as per the usual. "You can understand my problem Lulu. I am specifically asking you for help, because I can trust you..." Not to ask too many questions. It did seem bizarre, but even Discord did not make up wild and estranged stories to benefit himself. There was always a sprout of exaggerated truth to them with large plot holes to ensure he retained leverage. So there was no helping that. He leaned against her, offering his best, most charming smile. Discord Draconequus raised his soft paw up, the back of it brushing against her mane. "You'll help a dear, old friend, right Luna~?"
Princess Luna put her cocoa back down in front of her, quietly listening along. "Drippy face?" That was concerning- more so when he was asking for her to protect the ponies around this 'creation' of his. "You will have to give me more details about why they are such a danger to the ponies around them, but I have the beginnings of an idea from what you have told me thus far." Luna said, feeling a paw brushing the back of her mane. Odd of Discord to be so affectionate and now of all times. "A trinket, something to be enchanted that may create a shield. It will need a unicorn to refresh its magic, of course, depending on how long it is used.. but is a possible thing."
Discord Draconequus pouted a bit. Still a sharp wit. He was hoping she would just kind of let that slip. "Oh come no Luna~ do you think I'd create something dangerous~?" He flopped his head back over her hooves, looking up at her. He'd reach his claw up to her muzzle's lips. "Shh, don't answer that." He sneered a bit before smirking. He'd adjust himself so he was flopped over her hooves making it hard to just ignore him. He was quite the affectionate sort, though he had not felt he could get near the sisters for a time. Their titles, their parading, and prissiness was just enveloping. To him they felt very far away. But the more comfortable he became with lazing around, the more inclined he was just to invade their personal space without a care. "Just shy, honest..." He glanced away. The spirit was quiet a bit as he listened to her, tail end twitching. For a moment his eyes would close, mind drawing around the explanations he could offer.
Discord Draconequus opened an eye and glanced up when Luna explained to the end. "Well -- finding a unicorn wouldn't be difficult." He being half unicorn, and the creation in question -- well. "They are not -- a troubled youth. Just a bit unfortunate in their nature." Due to fault all his own. "I was young, irresponsible. They needn't suffer because of it." Ah his precious creations. Of all of them, she was the one most obedient it seemed. He would have to reign her in a bit more, make sure she stayed beneath his control. He needn't a catastrophe on his paws. Or claws. He levitated a clump ball of the marshmallow popcorn in front of Luna. "So you'll lend me a hoof, right?" He waggled the treat in front of her so she'd take a bit, his hoof wiggling teasingly.
Princess Luna. A 'no' had been on her tongue before the draconequus shushed her with a claw, mostly out of faith in him.. but the sound of this one creation sounded more like a possible danger. He still chose to leave out details it seemed, making her all the more curious what exactly it was he was talking about. Hrm. The moonbringer leaned her head forward to snatch the popcorn out of the air with her teeth, chewing thoughtfully- she'd never eaten marshmallow popcorn before and she sort of liked it. "I would still like to know about them, but if it involves protecting ponies, I shall of course."
Discord Draconequus parted his wide jaws apart and let the rest of the clump in his muzzle and crunched it up. He pawed the book. "Read iiit to me." he whined. "We can talk about my hobbies later." He lounged over the princesses hooves, being a lazy noodle. Or uncooperative. It was hard to tell sometimes. "Speaking of hobbies, Lulu, do you have any?" Seeing as his hobbies seemed to involve creating dangerous creatures. "This is full proof though, right?" He pointed to a spot in the book. "Sh---sure they won't end up hurt?" It can't back fire, or harm the other ponies? Sat himself back and let his cocoa mug, sipping from it. "This little enchantment, it will be fullproof right?" He bumped the top of his head under her chin, looking down at the book. "Much more lovely getting to know you than dealing with these things~" He murmured lazily.
Princess Luna gave the lazy draconequus a little frown. He had to be avoiding her best attempts to investigate, as was his way it seemed. She relented and levitated the book over for them both to look into. "If you learn how to cast it correctly, and know how to enchant an object with such a spell, it should be. If it is something as new as it is for you, I think it may take a while of practice before you can learn it." She could easily just make him such an enchanted trinket, but it seemed better to let Discord legitimately attempt to make it himself- after all, he'd been the one to seek it out in the first place. Luna hummed at his muttering and peered at the book. "Most of it details how to create shields, and different shields to make. One that is akin to a shield used by infantry, and another is a bubble- better protection to cover from all angles." The latter she recalled using on more than one occasion during a certain battle. "If you think of how most magic is manifested, and most spells are cast, it will be easy enough to start there."
Discord Draconequus was an expert at dodging questions. The deception was something that came with time and a great deal of effort. Since lying only stacked more problems toe more you lied; when one learned to pepper things with vague truths it was much easier to bugger oneself against the prejudices and questioning gazes of ponies. he felt it was a lot of work, but he supposed that was the case with all magic. Some of the glyphs were legible to him, most were not. It would be slightly catastrophic if he miscast bubble expansion for bubble explosion. Those glyph were too absurdly close together! "A bubble hmm, just not a pink one." He mused before tapping the book toward one of the pictures. It seemed to show a shield with something bouncing off it, but he couldn't tell if it red rejection or reflection. "What is this?" That one seemed like fun~ Ho hoo!
Princess Luna looked to the depiction that he'd tapped. "It is showing how the shields work, or should work. Magic, spells, and projectiles should be reflected from the shields that you create. It also depends on your magical endurance- should you be able to hold the shield despite it getting struck repeatedly by an enemy can drain your reserves." Luna explained to him. "I find that shields are better used sparingly during a battle, during points when it may increase your odds of victory or survival. The rest of your magic should be focused on offense. Of course, shields do have more use than just a fight, as I do not think that is what you are going for here." Luna paused and considered something.
Discord Draconequus felt it would have been fun. The only reason he considered this path was he saw that the shields could perhaps benefit his creation. "Ever the warrior princess. We should get you a leotard, chakrams, and a female partner of questionable orientation." He murmured, resting his head back on her hooves, is own forelimbs tucked to his chest. "It has to be something green, that pops. Well," He furrowed his brows. "Something that doesn't pop and is sustainable for long periods of time. What about a shield that doesn't let anything out, from within?" His ears perked, eyes focusing on the pages, but hardly could he get through a sentence without certain spots being jumbled. That was one way to hide a secret. Just write it in New Equestrian, the spirit would never bother to translate it, lest he be forced to ask for help he refused he needed. He yawned, feeling oddly sleepy.
Discord Draconequus was not usually comfortable enough to relax but Luna's hearth, and fur, were warm. "Luna is safe." He murmured. "Warm, I meant warm!" He barked out, as if that was any less strange. "Such warm fur and a toasty spot to read. I feel as if I could sleep for days!" And that was a big compliment with the testy spirit who preferred to sleep in the company of Cockatrice more than ponies!
Princess Luna was puzzled at that, her brow furrowing as she turned her teal eyes on the draconequus at her hooves. "I do not understand." Was it just some present day thing she'd never heard about, or from a book? No, Discord wouldn't really know those things either. She shook her head and decided to focus back on magic- his question brought up something interesting and her mind returned again to what she'd been thinking. "There is a spell that may be a little more energy efficient than a shield. A magic health bubble. It works with keeping out possible sickness." But, would it keep it in? A question that would not occur to her, as she had no idea of the situation that Discord wanted it for. "Something of that ilk." Luna pondered over other possibilities, but she wasn't sure if a simple magical bubble would work- they probably popped. Princess Luna blinked, brought out of her thoughts by that little utterance. Safe? Her natural thought was
of course I am, but that didn't seem quite right when he struggled to cover it up. "I see. Perhaps slumber is in order?"
Discord Draconequus yawned again, unable to help himself. He was feeling drowsy. Really is this what it was like to attune to the mortal planes again?! He'd rather go back to living between there and than, amidst chaos. Another big yawn as the spirit tried to resist his tiredness. He kept his claw tucked to his chest as his paw scratched through his feathers. He was really hoping to find an answer tonight, but they were both, most likely, drained. Brains were probably pudding right now. "I'm not tired, but you must be exhausted after all that hoof work you did today~" As if to infer she never walked about. His ears folded back, his comment catching in his ears. "It's no good for you hoof." He reflected his own insult to project toward her injured hoof. He flailed a bit, hindlimbs a bit shorter than his forelimbs. He managed to sit up. He stared at her mane again, eyes glancing away before he pushed to stand.
Discord Draconequus nudged his muzzle at her side to push at the poor princess, though he was trying to help her up in his own, obnoxious way. "I don't need to carry you to bed do I? Unless you do not find yourself too old for such a game." He grinned, ever the cheeky little -- noddle. Ahem.
Princess Luna responded to that with the lift of one, unamused eyebrow. "You did nothing but float, yet here you are yawning like you are worn." She was quick to point these things out, but sleep did sound like a good idea for both of them. "It will heal." She said dismissively and turned to watch him as he eventually got himself up just to make her get up. Luna grunted. "You do not, I can manage well enough on my own." The princess picked herself up easily enough, pausing just once to finish her cocoa- she wasn't going to just leave things lying unfinished around her room now was she? She wasn't a slob. Licking her lips, Luna ambled over to her bed and after discarding her neckpiece and tiara back to their usual sitting places, climbed in it.
Discord Draconequus arched his brows. "Noodle, madam. The correct term is noodle." He stressed, looking lackluster toward her comment, though it was half-hearted. Flexing his wings a bit she would come to disregard his teasing over her hoof. But he was earnestly troubled. The sisters did not seem very fast healers. He could splice himself in two and be no worse for the wear. Though, he supposed a near constant stream of consciousness made him ready for most anything. There did come price with such power, and that was just the occasional, black-out sleep. He was most vulnerable during his sleep. Snuffed out by a pillow, watch. Some ponies splayed out like spaghetti monsters in their sleep! He turned his head down to his own mug. He supposed he should follow suit -- Slithering his forked tongue out he dragged his mug into his muzzle and ate it. Raising his claw he blinked out the remaining popcorn and ate Luna's mug for good measure.
Discord Draconequus lazily trotted toward her bed, on Luna's side, and laid his head on the surface, staring a her. T'would be the only warning she got before he slithered in (though he took great care not to jostle her wing) and climbed over her. Scuffling like a crazed snake in an ice bath he would pushed back she his back was to hers. He wiggled until he was comfy, a fluff of his feathers and a stretch of his back, like a giant -- well draconequui. Even going to bed he was a dramatic princess! He reached his paw out to touch the egg -- still warm. Had it moved off its pillow? Pushing it back he cozied it in the sheets before rolling so he now properly faced the princess. Another yawn -- why was he so tired? Old age he would blame -- and snuggle into the princess. "First thing in the morning." He mumbled, eyes drooping a bit, ears flattening against his skull.
Princess Luna stretched out on her good side, tilting her head off of the pillow when Discord made some correction. It didn't matter too much, but he was indeed a noodle. She eyed his scrawny form and let her head relax fully back onto her pillow, other than a glance of where he put his head. The mug, she noticed, had disappeared. Luna remained still when he wiggled into bed, something she didn't mind so much now. He'd no doubt become accustomed to it since he had become small, after his sacrifice of magic. She heard a mutter about morning but she didn't ask- lying in bed now, she felt comfortable and tired enough that it would be easy for her to fall asleep now. "Sleep well."
Discord Draconequus stretched out his limbs, allowing his left arm to flop over the princess, his right paw attempting to tuck down between them to pull her close, but he was again gentle due to her wing. His yawn was much bigger this time, body tensing up as he fully relaxed. He laid his head atop of hers and harumphed. "That's your job to make sure I sleep well, princess." He softly teased, his voice barely a grumble in the air. He blinked, eye lids growing heavier as his minded emptied. Maybe if the princess listened, she could hear a quiet moment of peace exhale from the spirit. "...sweet dreams." He murmured, finally replying honestly. "I don't want to disappoint you two. I'm trying to fix it." He held tight and nodded off. Off to dreamland the spirit went for a while.
The End.
